It’s hard to understand what’s missing.
Sometimes, you don’t feel right, but you can’t identify it. It might feel like an inner restlessness, a sense that there is more to life – more to you – than you are experiencing right now. Something is missing that, if you could find it, would help you feel more settled in your skin.
You keep looking outside of yourself to find happiness and fulfillment: things like a bigger house, a vacation, or a new relationship, but these external things end up falling short, and you find yourself looking, once again, for something else to fill that void.
What if you could
– more fully understand who you are and what motivates you?
– recognize why you feel and act the ways you do?
– have a path that would allow you to take step after step toward fulfilling your purpose?
– calm the restlessness of your soul?
– have a framework that makes sense of your and your partner’s differences?
These are some of the many questions we can explore with the help of the Enneagram.
Learn to understand yourself better.
The Enneagram is a powerful system used to better understand yourself and others in ways that promote deep understanding and personal growth. The Enneagram can help you identify the motivations that drive your thoughts, feelings, and actions, giving you a window into yourself that allows you to see yourself more clearly.
The Enneagram allows us to understand personality types using the numbers 1-9. You are not your personality. Your true self and personality type are two separate things, but throughout life, we become so identified with our personality that we lose a sense of who we are.
What’s great is that you don’t have to know your Enneagram type before starting therapy to benefit from it! I just did an interview with my friend and colleague, Lyndsey Fraser, MA, LMFT, discussing, among other things, this exact thing.
It’s an interesting conversation if you want to check it out! Video (watch time: 27 min): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9ZXaYLJIfg
