It’s hard to admit you need help.
Asking for help is even more challenging, especially with your relationship. Having to see a couples therapist feels like failing on your part. I think it’s brave!
Seeking help from a couples therapist means you care about your relationship enough to do hard things and make the necessary changes to help you grow and evolve together. It symbolizes your first step toward a new relationship.
I love, love, love working with couples and dealing with all the issues, including premarital counseling, conflict, intimacy, affairs, money, communication, sex, trust, deciding whether to stay or leave, and healing after a breakup.
Building the proper connection makes a difference.
Couples therapy begins by building a connection with each client so everyone feels comfortable and safe to share openly and honestly. You’ll experience me as a blend of relatability, compassion, empathy, and directness to help you feel validated, understood, and driven to work toward achieving your goals.
I understand the complexities of life and relationships and that everyone needs help working through the problems that can occasionally manifest from those challenging dynamics.
We all have a history that plays into who we are today. I can help you process your past experiences to develop a better relationship in your present and build a fantastic future together.
My approach is integrative.
I use a psycho-educational and systemic approach to therapy that draws from Gottman, intergenerational therapy, and attachment theory.
This approach gives my clients the tools to learn how to handle their struggles and conflicts differently and discover how past influences and experiences shape how we all show up in our relationships and the world today.
The exciting part for me as a therapist is watching clients experience long-term growth and have fundamental, lasting changes in their lives!
About Me
Helping couples and families is my passion.
I am a pre-licensed therapist working toward full licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist in Minnesota and Illinois.
I earned my BA in Psychology from the College of St. Scholastica and my MA in Couple and Family Therapy from Adler University. I have also completed several advanced trainings from Gottman and Relational Life Therapy (Level 1) for my specialized work with couples.
Currently, I am working toward becoming certified in sex therapy as well. I see couples, adults, and teens 13+.
Life outside of therapy has many dimensions.
When I’m not seeing clients, I enjoy spending time with my partner and our three pups!
I unwind through exercise, hiking, and being out in nature. And when the midwestern cold sets in, I enjoy watching movies before the fireplace and playing my favorite video games.
