We accept cash, check, and credit cards. We also accept most Flex Spending/HSA cards.
Renovation Counseling is a self-pay counseling center, which allows clients to be seen without the involvement of an insurance company. By paying without insurance, you protect your privacy, avoid being given an insurance-mandated diagnosis in order to receive counseling services, and are more in control of the services you receive.
You may be able to receive reimbursement through your insurance provider’s out-of-network benefits, flexible spending account (FSA), or health savings account (HSA).
Renovation Counseling can provide you with an itemized receipt of services. If you wish to use any of these health benefits, please contact your benefits provider to verify coverage before your first session. It is your responsibility to verify coverage and submit any invoices for reimbursement. Payment is due at the time of service.
Benefits of Self-Pay
No unnecessary diagnoses: Since insurance often does not cover relational counseling (such as couples and family therapy), the insurance company will require at least one of the clients to have a clinical diagnosis in order to be covered. Mental health diagnoses can be documented on health records. They can also affect life insurance or health insurance applications, as well as other benefits or services. By offering private pay, Renovation Counseling does not have to give you a formal mental health diagnosis.
Flexibility for optimum care: Using self-pay, you have more flexibility for treatment options, such as type of counseling, number of sessions, session length, and more.
Confidentiality: Treatment plans, progress notes, and billing information are not released to your insurance company, so your confidentiality remains protected.
To avoid paying for a missed session, a 24-hour notice of cancellation is required.
